Volvo is looking for exits with grave financial situation which has led to rumours of a possible sale of the Swedish brand. The company confirmed the information on the reduction of state employees in 2000 and the partial closure of production, but this is only part of a new strategy automakers, as stated Fredrik Arp, CEO of Volvo Cars.
To stay on the market with stiff competition and no less stringent restrictions on harmful emissions into the atmosphere, the company intends to present a series highly effective diesel models, as well as expand the range of new small Volvo cars. In an interview with the Swedish press Arp said that this year will see the light of three new diesel models developed primarily for countries with rapidly developing automotive markets such as China and Russia. One of the new Volvo compact cars will be five current version hatchback C30.
Early plans for the company anticipated release of more powerful and economical 2.0 - and 2.5 - liter turbo, who will present in 2009 in the new S60. In addition, Volvo will add to its line of new 8-staged transmission produced by German company ZF Getriebe GmbH.
